#5: QB- Matthew Stafford (LAR)
As the Rams adjusted their offensive approach late last season, Stafford flourished, throwing 15 of his 24 touchdowns between Weeks 12 and 17. For fantasy scoring, he was a QB1 during most of that time as well. Stafford has been left in the cold for most drafters this offseason, but he has a healthy set of weapons at his disposal, a successful offensive-minded coach, and the veteran experience to steady a team at the position. So if your hyped up QB pick doesn’t pan out and you end up streaming, Stafford can help.
#4: TE - Johnny Mundt (MIN)
Like I said, this list is great if you stashed someone like T.J. Hockenson in your IR spot after the draft. Mundt is the guy who will replace him in that Vikings’ offense. Granted, it’s unclear how the team will split the TE work, but Mundt stepped up as a top-12 guy when Hockenson was out at the end of last season. He had 9 catches on 13 targets for 97 yards and a touchdown over the last 2 games. It’s a small sample size, but he’s set up to return value early in the season.
#3: RB - Tyrone Tracy (NYG)
Tracy was a playmaker at Perdue, scoring 8 touchdowns in 2023, while also racking up 47 receptions between his junior and senior seasons. While Devin Singletary is slated to be the lead back for the Giants, Tracy could be in line for somewhat of a 3rd-down role. Otherwise, it’s worth noting that Singletary was not particularly efficient last season, and could be a vulnerable starter. So Tracy is an upside stash.
#2: RB - Jordan Mason (SF)
Mason didn’t see a lot of work last season, but he had a respectable 5.5 yards per touch over 40 carries and 3 receptions. The news that Elijah Mitchell is out for the season means Mason is the player ready to step in if anything happens to CMC. Considering he’s already battled a hamstring injury this summer, I think a dice roll on Mason is worth it.
