Kicker: Justin Tucker (BAL)
In terms of points per game last season, just 3 points separated the K1 (Brandon Aubrey) from the K25 (Will Lutz). So, in the long run this isn’t going to matter too much.
But, an edge is an edge, and not having to worry about streaming the position will take one more thing off your plate each week. Here’s Tucker’s fantasy ranking each of the last few years:
2023: 2nd
2022: 1st
2021: T-3rd
2020: T-7th
2019: 3rd
2018: 2nd
2017: T-3rd
2016: 2nd
So if you draft him, you’re getting a slam dunk top 10 guy, and most likely top 5.
Taking it one (plant) step further, Tucker is the record holder for longest field goal in history for his 66-yarder in ‘21, and over his career he’s been the most accurate guy in NFL history. So, he’s for real.
D/ST: New York Jets
The Jets finished a respectable 4th in fantasy last season, ranking 3rd in yards allowed, and finishing in the top 3rd of the league in takeaways. The only problem was that they often had to bail out one of the league’s worst offenses. Because of that, they finished with a -5 turnover differential as a team. They shouldn’t have to carry the load so much this season because an Aaron Rodgers-led offense is not going to turn the ball over 33 times. With arguably the top defensive line in football, and Sauce Gardner leading the defensive backs, this unit is ready to ball.
QB: Jalen Hurts (PHI)
With 14 of 17 weeks as a fantasy QB1, and 15 rushing touchdowns, Hurts is undoubtedly one of the top options in fantasy football. He’s throwing to an all-star team of wide receivers with A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith, Jahan Dotson, and Dallas Goedert, and he plays behind the top-rated offensive line in the league. Now paired up with Saquon Barkley in the backfield, opposing defenses will not know how to cover them. So, the door is open for Hurts to reach the pinnacle this season.
TE: Trey McBride (ARI)
If you rostered McBride in 2023, it was most likely off the waiver wire since he started as Zach Ertz’s backup. But once Ertz got injured, it was takeoff time. He finished as PPR TE13 or better in 8 of his last 10 games, averaging 8.5 targets per game over that span. He ranked at the top of the league in targets per route run. By the end of the year he was Arizona’s top pass catcher. But, the team drafted Marvin Harrison Jr. to develop into their star wideout. That shouldn't reduce McBride's opportunity too much in 2024. Kyler Murray will need to look to him often, giving him huge upside as a top tight end. As a bonus, the Cardinals have one of the easiest schedules for the position this season. He’s got a shot at the top for sure.
WR: Tyreek Hill (MIA)
No surprises here if you’ve been reading my content this offseason. In 2023, Hill had 8 weekly performances as a top-five wide receiver. But that’s not all - he tied for 2nd in the league in percentage of his team’s air yards with a ridiculous 43%. Despite last summer's Jaylen Waddle hype, Hill proved himself the dominant receiver. He had the most targets per route run and yards per route run with 3.80. He also scored 13 touchdowns, was 2nd in juke rate, and 1st in route win rate. He is an absolute monster fantasy receiver. This is the year no one finishes ahead of him.
