Najee Harris (PIT), ADP 84.1, RB22

Since Harris’s tremendous rookie season back in 2021, he’s declined in output, efficiency, and fantasy points per game:

  • 2021: 17.7 (6th)

  • 2022: 13.2 (9th)

  • 2023: 11.5 (30th)

Ultimately, the writing is on the wall. Jaylen Warren ranked 1st in juke rate, 3rd in breakaway run rate, and 7th in yards per touch. All while hauling in 61 receptions to Najee’s 29. Warren was also 17th in fantasy points per opportunity compared to 52nd for Najee.

So, it’s not surprising that the Steelers have declined to pick up Najee’s option for 2025. It seems like they want to move in a different direction. Don’t draft him this season.

DeAndre Hopkins (TEN), ADP 82.7, WR47

Hopkins played in every game for the Titans in 2023, which was encouraging. But, it was the first time he did it since 2020. He’s now entering his age 32 season with a knee injury that’s expected to keep him out at least until the start of the regular season and possibly beyond.

But, his age and knee aren’t the only reasons to steer clear on draft day. He’s now sharing the offense with Calvin Ridley, who was roughly as productive as Hopkins in 2023, and Tyler Boyd. Not to mention Treylon Burks and tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo.

Additionally, Will Levis is still largely a question mark at this point in his career. It’s tough to tell how much production he will be able to sustain. Add it all up and Hopkins is just too risky for me, even as the WR47.

Joe Mixon (HOU), ADP 62.5, RB14

I’ve written about being down on Mixon a bunch this summer, and I’m sticking with that belief. He’s been a great fantasy back for most of his career, and he may have even won your league last season with strong performances down the stretch.

But, he barely averaged 4 yards per carry on the ground. It took him the 5th-most carries in the league to break 1,000 yards. He also made up a lot of ground in the Bengals’ passing game, with 52 receptions for 376 yards. It took 4 different Texans’ backs combined to get to 52 receptions. And they didn’t reach as many yards as Mixon. I think that points to a decline in passing opportunity for him in 2024.

So, be cautious with Mixon and the quality of work he might actually see in his new home.

Aaron Rodgers (NYJ), ADP 159.4, QB21

Rodgers is a future Hall of Famer, but he’s 40-years-old and the entire nation saw his Achilles snap in 2 on television 11 months ago. There’s no guarantee he bounces back easily from that, and there were some signs of slowing down the prior year in Green Bay as well. In that 2022 season, Rodgers had his career-worst fantasy finish in points per game, ranking 21st at just 14.8 points. Additionally, he has no real rushing upside to speak of.

There are other questions around the Jets’ situation too. If their defense is as good as advertised, the team will likely forego a lot of passing work at the end of games. The team also tends to play at a slower-than-average pace, meaning fewer opportunities for Rodgers to excel. It’s also fair to question his commitment after missing some mandatory team workouts this summer for personal reasons.

So, it’s a good idea to remember the good times with Rodgers but not to expect any more.
