Highest Rushing Upside: Lamar Jackson (BAL)

Last yearā€™s league MVP has improved his passing accuracy under offensive coordinator Todd Monken, but his best fantasy asset remains his legs. Lamar was 1st in 2023 with 821 rushing yards. In fact, heā€™s never finished lower than 3rd in total rushing yards over an entire season.

So, drafting Lamar could give you the edge you need. Remember, he averaged over 27 fantasy points during last yearā€™s stretch run.

Riskiest Pick: Tua Tagovailoa (MIA)

Tua dazzled early last season, but fell off hard, averaging 13.3 fantasy points over the final seven games. Youā€™re still going to get spike weeks from Tua, especially early on in the season. But, heā€™s never really shown he can sustain the performance over a longer period of time, even with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

Combine that with the fact that he provides next to zero rushing value to raise his floor, and you have a very risky fantasy draft pick.

Most Undervalued: Jordan Love (GB)

Loveā€™s first season as the full-time starter was nothing short of a great success. He was 7th in passing yards, 2nd in touchdowns, and 5th in fantasy points per game. The young, talented team around him should continue to create fun games like we saw during the teamā€™s playoff run.

But, Love is being drafted as the QB10 right now. Thatā€™s too low for what heā€™s bringing to the table. Get that value.

Most Overvalued: Anthony Richardson (IND)

I like Richardson. Heā€™s a tremendous athlete that brings a lot of rushing upside to the position. But, heā€™s only started 4 career games. He already had questions around his accuracy and has just healed from shoulder surgery. And weā€™re drafting him as the QB5?

I donā€™t doubt Richardson has the potential to finish as a strong QB1. Iā€™m just not ready to go there for so steep a price until Iā€™ve seen more consistency from him over time.

Dark Horse QB1 Candidate: Kyler Murray (ARI)

Donā€™t laugh. Murrayā€™s 2020 and 2021 seasons ended with him as the QB3 and QB4 in fantasy points per game. But, things havenā€™t been so great since he tore up his knee in 2022. Thatā€™s about to change.

The reports out of Arizona are largely positive so far. According to the beat reporters, Murray already has a good rapport with Marvin Harrison Jr., heā€™s making some of the more promising reads of his career, and his lateral mobility seems to have returned with the knee injury another year in the past. This could be a great season.

DO NOT DRAFT: Justin Herbert (LAC)

The arguments for avoiding Herbert in drafts this year just keep piling up. Heā€™s coming off an injury-shortened season. He lost his top 2 WRs, his starting TE, and his pass-catching RB in the offseason. His new head coach is an old-school, run-first kind of guy.

So, even with all that baked into his ADP, Iā€™m leaving Herbert on the board in 2024.

Best Overall: Josh Allen (BUF)

Allen has been the most consistent fantasy QB over the last 4 seasons. Heā€™s been either the QB1 or QB2 in every year during that span. Itā€™s a testament to his skills as an all-around football player. He can pass, he can run, and he can make good plays happen.

Thereā€™s some hesitation here since Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis have both left town. But, I still think thereā€™s enough talent on the Bills and Allenā€™s powers can overcome that deficit. Heā€™ll be a top-tier finisher once again.
