Round 2: Draft a 2nd Wide Receiver

If you drafted Tyreek, your 2nd round pick comes late where running back options are sarce. So, pair Hill with another dominant WR. Here are some of the best options in that area of the round:

  • Chris Olave ranked 6th in total air yards and 4th in deep targets to finish as the PPR WR16. But, he also had the 3rd-most unrealized air yards and a year of connection with Derek Carr under his belt. If he can improve on deep connections, Olaveā€™s ceiling is top-5.

  • Cooper Kupp may have to play second-fiddle to Puka Nacua, but still has the upside of a top WR in the Ramsā€™ passing attack. Even though heā€™s a year older, that talent is still there. And you can take more risks now that you have Tyreek.

  • Brandon Aiyukā€™s contract negotiations continue, but it looks most likely heā€™ll stay with San Francisco. Thatā€™s good considering he has emerged as Brock Purdyā€™s favorite downfield target.

Round 3: Target your RB1

Youā€™re going to have a long break between your 3rd and 4th picks, so itā€™s a good idea to snag your top RB, unless you're specifically drafting ā€œzero-RBā€. I see two options for you early in the 3rd:

  • Kyren Williams was 9th in snaps played last season, which makes sense. Sean McVay likes to lean on his top back as a workhorse. He did it with guys like Darrell Henderson and Cam Akers. So, Williams should get the necessary volume to serve in the top role for your team.

  • The King, Derrick Henry is now with the Ravens, and I LOVE the situation. The only risk comes with the fact that heā€™s totaled 690 touches over the last 2 seasons and is on the wrong side of 30. Still, if anyone can defy concerning trends, itā€™s him.

Round 4: Elite TE Options

You should be strong enough at WR to grab an elite tight end in this spot. Trey McBride is a perfect option here, as he led the league in targets per route run last season and now has a fully healthy Kyler Murray ready to return to form. You could also take a look at Mark Andrews, who has the only TE1 season outside of Travis Kelce and Sam LaPorta since 2018. Or, Dalton Kincaid, who could realistically be the Billsā€™ top target after their offseason WR shakeup.

Round 5: RB2 Time

James Cook should be available here, and heā€™s become my favorite RB target outside the top-12. He ranked 4th in rushing yards and 8th in receiving yards last season. Heā€™s an integral part of the Buffalo offense. The one downside is his touchdown equity. But, there are expectations that he could get more of the red zone work this season. So, his upside is up in the top-5 overall backs.

Round 6: Pad Your WR Depth

The late 6th offers some really strong WR depth options that will allow you to come out of the draft looking absolutely STACKED at the position.

  • Christian Watson bested all of his teammates in target share, end zone targets, and air yards when healthy. If heā€™s really fixed his hamstring issues, heā€™s the Packersā€™ number 1 wideout, even if your friends donā€™t realize it.

  • Brian Thomas Jr. was a DOMINANT force in college, leading the nation in receiving touchdowns with 17. Bringing that upside to your fantasy team is a good idea in this part of the draft.

  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba should be ready to surpass 32-year-old Tyler Lockett in the Seahawksā€™ pecking order. His route-running will keep him afloat in his role in that new-look offense.

Round 7: Build a Value Stack with HUGE Potential

If you got Trey McBride back in the 4th, take Kyler Murray here. I love his draft position even if you donā€™t have Cardinals on your roster already. Heā€™s now 2 years removed from his ACL injury, heā€™s been balling out at camp this summer, and his lateral mobility has returned, suggesting heā€™ll be able to tap into that rushing upside. Grab him and your roster is looking good.
