Round 1: Tyreek Hill (MIA), ADP 2.8
The choice is obvious here. CeeDee Lamb may have been fantasy’s top option in 2023, but Hill has finished 2nd in 3 of the last 4 years. He’s still a dominant player, with a 44% air yards share, 25 red zone targets, and an eye-popping 3.88 yards per route run. His 1,799 receiving yards represented the 8th-most EVER for an NFL wide receiver. And despite turning 30, Hill is still one of the fastest players in the league. Until someone dramatically improves their game, or until Cheetah starts to decline, he’s the top fantasy WR.
Round 2: Nico Collins (HOU), ADP 17.3
The Texans extended Collins’s contract this summer to the tune of 3 more years and $52.1 in guaranteed money. That’s why I’m not too worried about Stefon Diggs coming in and upending Nico’s target share. He’s still the top dog on the offense. He was second only to Tyreek Hill in yards per route run (3.24), and was 6th in total yards after the catch (549). His explosive breakout in Year 3 was no fluke, and he’ll remain the best WR for C.J. Stroud.
Round 3: D.J. Moore (CHI), ADP 30.4
Moore was electric last year as the WR9 in points per game. He enjoyed the 5th-most deep targets in the league and was 8th in air yards share at 38%. He also ended up 6th in receiving yards despite the less-than-stellar arm of Justin Fields. This year, he may end up with more target competition since Keenan Allen is in Chicago and the team drafted Rome Odunze. But, Moore’s dominance will be an invaluable asset for the development of Caleb Williams. So, draft away.
Round 4: Amari Cooper (CLE), ADP 42.9
Deshaun Watson likes hangin’ with Amari Cooper. When the two were on the field together, Cooper averaged almost 100 yards per game and had over 42% of the Browns’ air yards. Overall, he proved a capable deep threat, even as he approached 30 years old. He was 3rd in the league in yards per reception (17.4), and cracked the top 15 in yards per route run. I’m not worried about Jerry Jeudy taking much of Cooper’s work. So, he’s a great target in this range of draft.
Round 5: Christian Kirk (JAX), ADP 53.1
Kirk missed the last 5 games of 2023, so a lot of fantasy drafters are sleeping on him this year. But, with Calvin Ridley off to Tennessee, Kirk is now the definite number 1 receiver on his team. At least, it looks that way with Gabe Davis and rookie Brian Thomas Jr. as his main competitors. Kirk cracked the top 20 in yards per route run last season (2.12), and had 5 games as a WR1 or WR2. So, in a year I expect Trevor Lawrence to perform better, Kirk will be the main beneficiary.
Round 6: Christian Watson (GB), ADP 70.6
My second Christian in a row is actually the WR1 on the Packers, despite what you see about Jayden Reed’s ADP. He outpaced all of his teammates in important metrics like target share, air yard share, and end zone targets when he was healthy. If you believe he’s finally been able to address his hamstring issues with a specialist this season, he has a ceiling that far exceeds a 6th-round ADP. He could even finish as a WR1.
