Biggest Injury Risk: Mike Williams (NYJ), ADP 133.9
Williams was on pace to be a top-15 fantasy WR last season. The problem was he only played in 3 games before tearing his ACL. Now, heās approaching 30 years old as a player who has endured a lot of nagging injuries over his career. Since entering the NFL heās injured his back, ankle, hamstring, shoulder, and knee. It doesnāt instill a lot of confidence, especially since we arenāt totally sure how the Jets will look this year. Heās also the clear-cut WR2 behind Garrett Wilson.
Riskiest Pick: WR Chris Olave (NO), ADP 20.5
Olaveās ADP is currently driven by projected growth going into Year 3. But, thatās not guaranteed. Last year he was 19th in fantasy points per game. But, he had a lot of missed connections with Derek Carr leading to 1,058 unrealized air yards, 3rd-most in the league. Thatās concerning because Carr isnāt likely to get much more accurate throwing deep at this point in his career. So, Olave may not reach the expectations of this draft spot.
Worst RB at Current Value: RB DāAndre Swift (CHI), ADP 90
Swift ended last season 5th in total rushing yards. He was the PPR RB20, which is decent considering his relatively modest role in the passing game. But, there are problems with his statistical trends. He ranked 51st in yards created per touch, which was worse than both Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson. The preseason trends havenāt been super encouraging either. Swift didnāt get the majority of the startersā reps and logged just 1 carry in the first game. So, there are a lot of warning signals here.
Worst WR at Current Value: Jaylen Waddle (MIA), ADP 19.3
I keep saying it: Waddle is a great talent, but heās always going to be capped by playing alongside Tyreek Hill. The 2nd-round ADP is way too high because Tua Tagovailoa just doesnāt have the ability to support 2 fantasy WR1s for the entirety of the season. Additionally, the strength of the Miami backfield may lead to fewer opportunities anyway. So, fade Waddle unless he falls in your draft.
Worst TE at Current Value: Dallas Goedert (PHI), ADP 115.9
Goedertās best fantasy football days are behind him at this point. Heās an injury risk with 2 top-end WRs competing for targets on his offense. But, thatās not all. In 2023, he posted his career-low yards per reception total, and heās never scored more than 5 touchdowns in his career (2019). So, he shouldnāt be drafted as a starting TE even though heās currently the 12th off the board.
Do NOT Draft: WR Tank Dell (HOU), ADP 34.1
Three Texans WRs are being drafted between Rounds 2-3, and at least one of them will be the odd man out. Iāve been vocal about fading Stefon Diggs as a bust, but Tank Dell belongs in the conversation too. The team just extended Nico Collins to be their WR1, so Dell and Diggs are very likely to cap each otherās ceilings, especially if C.J. Stroud doesnāt keep up his quality of play. Neither Diggs or Dell is worth their Round 3 ADP until we get more information.
