David Montgomery (DET), ADP 60, RB23

David Montgomery averaged 15.7 touches and 87.6 scrimmage yards per game last season — and that was before his Week 15 injury. But here’s what nobody sees: he quietly matched Jahmyr Gibbs in the receiving game pre-injury (32 catches vs. 34), and 70% of his carries came when Detroit was tied or ahead — locking him into positive game scripts.

So even though there is some concern around losing their center and offensive coordinator, the Lions were still 4th in red zone trips in 2024, and Montgomery still holds a valuable role — and you’re getting that TD equity at RB23.

Najee Harris (LAC), ADP 95.5, RB33

Najee Harris is no longer the long-term guy, but in LA, he's projected as the Week 1 starter and projected to open with 10–14 touches per game under Greg Roman. But Roman’s history seems to suggest a bigger role for Najee than people think. In Baltimore, he consistently ran one of the run-heaviest schemes in the league, and has the offensive line pieces to incorporate some early-down run volume.

So, while Omarion Hampton is the future, Najee opens the year as a flex-level workhorse — and you’re drafting that floor later than it should go.

James Cook (BUF), ADP 36, RB14

Cook’s 18 touchdowns in 2024 were twice as much as he had racked up over the previous 2 years combined. And his 7 touchdowns over expectations led the NFL. But, that was with his touches and targets actually declining. The reality is Cook was efficient on a per-touch basis, averaging 5.3 yards per touch (12th), and 1.09 fantasy points per opportunity (8th).

So, even with Ray Davis siphoning some work, Cook should remain the top option for the Josh Allen attack, and be well worth the pick toward the end of Round 3.

Joe Mixon (HOU), ADP 49, RB19

Joe Mixon isn’t flashy anymore — but he’s still expected to lead the Texans’ backfield on early downs, sharing some work with Dameon Pierce, with Woody Marks possibly handling pass work and Nick Chubb not yet locked into full health. But here’s the real unlock: Houston is in the top half of the league in pace and ranked 5th in EPA per drive over the final 6 games of 2024, with one of the league’s most efficient red zone scoring profiles.

So even if Mixon loses passing snaps, and people are worried about his efficiency metrics, he’s walking into high-leverage touches in a fast offense — and you’re getting that role 2–3 rounds later than similar backs.
