The best fantasy matchups of the week
Week 7 Starts
Here are 5 guys with the best fantasy matchups this week and why they need to start … in two minutes or less.
|
QB: Jared Goff (DET) vs. TB
Goff has been hyper-efficient, completing at least 65% of his passes in four straight games and consistently cashing in scoring drives. The Lions have put up 30+ points in three of their last five matchups, and now he gets a Buccaneers defense that’s been gashed through the air, sitting in the bottom half of the league in fantasy points allowed to QBs and giving up the 8th-most passing yards. Tampa invites shootouts with their offense-heavy, defense-light style, but that plays directly into Goff’s rhythm passing and scoring volume, especially at home, so this sets up as a high-ceiling start for Week 7.
RB: Quinshon Judkins (CLE) vs. MIA
Judkins may have stumbled last week, but that game was more about the opponent and game script than anything else. Pittsburgh bottled him up early and Cleveland never held the lead, but he’d been rolling the three weeks prior, logging 18+ carries in each and clearly operating as their workhorse. Miami has become the perfect bounce-back spot. They’ve allowed the most rushing yards to running backs through six weeks. So with volume locked in and a soft front ahead, Judkins sets up as a strong RB2 who can easily get back on track in Week 7.
RB: Jaylen Warren (PIT) @ CIN
Warren has been the steady engine of his backfield, but now the matchup tilts the scales in his favor. He’s coming off an efficient Week 6 where he led the team in rushing and ripped off multiple chunk gains, so there’s already momentum building. The Steelers’ offense is finding its rhythm after the bye, stacking back-to-back wins and leaning on Warren to keep drives moving. And this week he draws a Bengals defense that has been one of the softest in the league against RBs, giving up heavy production on the ground through the first six weeks. So this is exactly the kind of spot where Warren’s volume and efficiency can turn into a difference-making fantasy score.
WR: Ladd McConkey (LAC) vs. IND
Ladd has been simmering just below the surface all season, but his Week 6 performance showed exactly what happens when the opportunity tilts his way: 7 catches on 9 targets for 100 yards and a score when Quentin Johnston was sidelined. The Chargers continue to run one of the league’s most pass-heavy offenses, so if Johnston can’t go again, McConkey projects for another big role. And this matchup lines up perfectly: the Colts have been one of the most generous defenses to wideouts this year, ranking sixth-worst against the position. In a game with clear passing volume, he’s a clear plug-and-play.
WR: Davante Adams (LAR) @ JAX
Adams has already been heavily involved all season, but with Puka Nacua’s status in doubt, his target volume could spike just when the Rams need it most. He’s already commanding steady looks even as the No. 2 option, so if Nacua sits or is limited, Adams slides right back into WR1 territory. The Rams have been winning games and keeping defenses on their heels, and they now face a Jaguars team that’s had up-and-down performances. So while Adams hasn’t hit his true ceiling yet, the matchup plus potential volume boost makes him a confident Week 7 start.
So that’s the list. 5 players to put into lineups if you have them on your roster… as promised, in 2 minutes or less.
