Bam Knight (ARI), available in 81.3% of leagues
Bam Knight is starting to feel like one of those sneaky midseason steals. A few weeks ago, he was just mixing in behind Michael Carter. But now, he’s the one getting the ball when it matters. He handled 17 touches in one recent game and scored in back-to-back outings, slowly wrestling this job away while everyone else in that backfield is hurt. But here’s the part that matters for fantasy: he gets Dallas next. And that defense has been getting gashed by running backs. So while everyone’s distracted by bigger names, Knight’s walking into a perfect storm: lead-back usage against a soft matchup. If you need help at RB, this is the kind of pickup that sneaks into lineups and actually wins weeks.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. (NYG), available in 58.1% of leagues
The keys to the offense are firmly back in Tracy’s hands. He logged 10–39 on the ground and 2–14 through the air in Week 8, but that line looks muted because Philly shoved the game off script late, so the real takeaway is the expanded role created by Cam Skattebo’s season-ending injury. Tracy already flashed with a 31-yard TD in Week 7, but that was as the contingency, so Tracy now projects for steady 15–20-touch weeks. The Giants have shown they can spark under the rookies (think that Week 6 upset), but even when the scoring swings, Tracy is the RB1 while Devin Singletary mixes in as a change-up. If you need an immediate starter, this is the add. He has the volume tilt now, so he profiles as a top-15 play in Week 9.
Troy Franklin (DEN), available in 57% of leagues
He’s been simmering for weeks, but Week 8 finally popped: 89 yards and two touchdowns while Denver cruised 44–24. But it isn’t a one-off: he scored again in Week 7 and already delivered an 8-for-89-and-a-TD back in Week 2 as the Bo Nix connection keeps showing up. But the targets have swung at times behind Courtland Sutton, which is why some box scores look lighter than the role. So if you need WR juice for Week 9 and beyond, this is the last cheap window to stash an ascending big-play/TD spark before everyone else chases the breakout.
Tez Johnson (TB), available in 56.8% of leagues
Tez Johnson isn’t just another name on the wire, he’s walking straight into a perfect storm. Mike Evans is done, Chris Godwin can’t stay on the field, and Tampa’s passing game needs a spark behind Egbuka. But what really matters is how Tez has responded to the opportunity: after the 4-for-59 breakout in Week 5, he followed with a 45-yard TD in Week 6, then 58 yards and another score on nine targets in Week 7, and a steady 5-for-43 in Week 8. So with this offense leaning on the pass and living in high-volume scripts, Johnson’s role is no longer a fluke, it’s a trend worth getting in on before everyone else catches up.
Colston Loveland (CHI), available in 75.8% of leagues
Loveland’s audition is quiet but convincing: after Kmet’s back flared up in Week 7, he took more routes and then hit season-highs in Week 8, going 3-of-5 for 38 yards as the only Bears tight end to earn a target. But the box score still looks modest, so this is the stash moment. He’s already earning real usage, and the production can catch up as Chicago’s offense continues to function better than last year. So if you need a Week 9 TE add, bet on the role first and let the points follow on an offense that’s been competitive the last few weeks.
