Week 3 Sits
Here are 5 players you should really consider sitting in fantasy this week … in two minutes or less.
|
QB: Cam Ward (CAR) vs. IND
Ward has shown flashes, but he’s still struggling with efficiency. He’s averaging just 5.3 yards per attempt and has yet to top 200 passing yards in a game. He made a couple of big throws to Calvin Ridley last week, but they came in a loss where Tennessee’s offense stalled for most of the day. The Colts’ defense just held Denver and Miami in check over the last two weeks and could force Ward into another low-volume, low-scoring script. Sit him this week. He’s more of a long-term stash until the Titans’ passing attack finds its rhythm.
WR: Chris Olave (NO) @ SEA
I like Olave over the long-term, and he’s already getting fed, racking up 13 targets in Week 1 and 10 in Week 2. But that volume has turned into just 54 yards in both games with no touchdowns. Seattle’s secondary has opened the year tight on wideouts and the defense has already snagged two interceptions in each of its first two games, so this sets up as another low-efficiency spot even if the targets show up.
WR: Garrett Wilson (NYJ) @ TB
Wilson is still dominating Jets targets, but this week sets up as a trap for fantasy lineups. He saw eight looks in Week 2, but the Jets offense cratered after Justin Fields went down and Tyrod Taylor took over, leaving Wilson with just 50 yards in a blowout loss. The problem this week is the matchup: Tampa Bay has allowed the fifth-fewest fantasy points to WRs through two weeks. Wilson’s target share may look elite, but his efficiency and touchdown chances are capped in a game where the Jets likely slow the pace and lean on the ground game. So you’re better off sitting him and avoiding a low-ceiling outcome in Week 3.
RB: Quinshon Judkins (CLE) vs. GB
Judkins showed flashes in Week 2 with a 31-yard run and double-digit touches, but most of his production came on that single play and the Browns’ offense was still completely overmatched. This week he draws a Packers defense that held Detroit’s run game to 47 rushing yards combined and bottled up Jahmyr Gibbs to 2.1 YPC in Week 1, So Judkins’ volume floor is shaky and you’re likely banking on another big play to salvage his fantasy day.
RB: Nick Chubb (HOU) @ JAX
Chubb may have scored late last week, but that touchdown run masked what was otherwise a rough day on the ground. He had just 18 yards on his other 11 carries behind Houston’s bottom-tier offensive line. The Texans are running into a Jaguars team playing fast on offense, which could force Houston into a pass-heavy script. So with Houston’s run game facing negative game flow, Chubb profiles as a touchdown-or-bust play you should leave on the bench in Week 3.
So that’s the list. 5 players you shouldn’t rely on in Week 3… as promised, in 2 minutes or less.
