STUD RB: Breece Hall (NYJ)

With the weather conditions worsening in New England as kickoff approached, fans in attendance for the Jets vs. Patriots season finale had to know they werenā€™t going to see a lot of offense. It was one of just 2 games this weekend that had no playoff implications, and neither team has quite set the world on fire this year. Except nobody told Breece.

Jets coaches gave fans something to hold onto in the offseason by feeding their RB with a ridiculous 39 touches, and he delivered with 190 scrimmage yards and a back-breaking 50-yard TD run in the 4th quarter. Last seasonā€™s disappointing ACL tear looks to be fully in the rear view. With a fully healthy offseason on deck, the hardest part will be waiting for next season to see what Breece can do.

DUD RB: James Cook (BUF)

Buffalo and Miami had the regular season finale on Sunday Night, and the stakes ended up being for both the AFC East crown and the 2-seed in the AFC. The Bills prevailed, 21-14, but it was little thanks to Cook, who managed just 2.8 yards per carry and was out-rushed by Josh Allen on the evening in both attempts and yards. Cook also dropped a sure TD.

The kid is one of the premiere young RBs in the entire league at the moment, so this is no disrespect to the talent and promise he carries, but Week 18 wasnā€™t his best. Bills fans hope heā€™s saving it up for the playoff run.

STUD WR: Nico Collins (HOU)

Just like we thought.

Nico was on another level Sunday, catching all 9 of his targets from C.J. Stroud for a ridiculous 195 yards and a TD. The performance helped secure the AFC South title for the Texans and send them back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2019 season.

I canā€™t say enough about the rapport heā€™s developed with Stroud this season. He ended up with the 8th-most receiving yards in the league, according to the air yards tool from Fantasy Life. The offense on this squad is set up nicely for years to come.

DUD WR: Mike Evans (TB)

Not only did Evans ruin my way too early Prop Drop picks, but he let you down if you were still playing a fantasy championship in Week 18. It was a quiet, businesslike game all around for Tampa as they were content to play it safe against Carolina, and Baker Mayfield only threw for 137 yards, but Evans has set an expectation for himself that he just didnā€™t reach in Week 18.

For fantasy purposes, I expect heā€™ll return next season and continue to do what heā€™s done for a whole decade. For now, heā€™s got a playoff run to think about, starting with the Eagles, who seem to be in a death spiral.

STUD QB: Carson Wentz (LAR)

Your older brotherā€™s Wentz returned to glory in Week 18, showing poise and leadership in a comeback victory over the 49ers, who rested many of their starters.

Still, it was a commendable performance from the journeyman QB, who completed over 70% of his passes, threw 2 TDs, and added 53 more with his legs against one of the leagueā€™s top defensive units. There are plenty of NFL teams who donā€™t have the luxury of starting QBs of that caliber (if you saw Pats-Jets you know).

The Rams will bring Matt Stafford back in to face the Detroit Lions this Sunday Night

DUD QB: Jalen Hurts (PHI)

Meaningless game or not, the Eagles are in total freefall. The defending NFC champions have gone from 10-1 to 11-6 after losing to the Giants, who had nothing to play for and straight up embarrassed Philadelphia. Hurts has to take some of that blame.

He was just 7-of-16 passing with a pick before getting yanked for Marcus Mariota in the 2nd quarter. The way these guys are playing, next Monday nightā€™s visit to Tampa Bay could represent the end of their season. Then again, Hurts may have an opportunity, considering the Bucs rank 28th in the league against TEs, based on the metrics Fantasy Life uses for their defense vs. position tool.

STUD TE: Evan Engram (JAX)

Engram did what he could for the Jaguars in their devastating season-ending loss to the Titans in Week 18. He caught 10 of his 13 targets from Trevor Lawrence, going for 79 yards and a TD. Heā€™s been a bright spot for Jacksonville this season.

Looking ahead, the division isnā€™t going to get any easier for this team with the emergence of C.J. Stroud in Houston and the anticipated return of Anthony Richardson for the Colts. Engram will continue to be a viable fantasy tight end no matter what, though.

DUD TE: Noah Gray (KC)

Travis Kelce was inactive. The Chargers stink. It all lined up for Gray to make a splash in the tune-up game before the playoffs. Instead, both teams turned in an offensive snoozer in which Kansas City eked out a win, 13-12. Gray did not record a catch on 3 targets.

The Chiefs have taken a step back offensively this season, so it will be interesting to see what happens this Saturday night when the Dolphins visit Arrowhead Stadium. Maybe Gray will produce more with his opportunities when he steps back into his backup TE role.
