Dallas Cowboys @ Miami Dolphins (-1.5)

Could it have been any other game this week?

We obviously know what these two teams are capable of at their best, as we’ve seen both of them go off in spots throughout the 2023 season. The flipside of that is that each team has had its flaws on display as well. There’s a narrative that Miami can’t beat good teams. The Cowboys are coming off a bad loss to the Bills and tend to lose big as road dogs.

Fantasy Life’s Game Hub displays strong offensive numbers on both sides of the ball, but there aren’t a ton of areas of this game where the matchup is super lopsided. The potential for fireworks is there, but so is the risk of a flop.

QB: Tua Tagovailoa (MIA)

Tua has played a lot better real football than fantasy football. His only QB1 scoring week in the last 6 has come against Washington.

The big issue for Miami this week is the banged up offensive line. They’re down to one starter that they had at the start of the season, and the way they countered that last week was to have Tua get the ball out QUICK. He averaged 2.1 seconds per throw, his fastest of the season. It worked fine and efficiently against the Jets, but the Cowboys are one of the top teams at generating pressure this season. It will be interesting to see how Miami plays it.

RB: Raheem Mostert (MIA)

The rushing efficiency was nonexistent vs. the Jets, as Mostert averaged just 2.8 yards per carry, and 0.7 yards per carry before contact. It was rough sledding behind that banged up line.

The question remains as to whether Miami will be able to do what Buffalo did to Dallas and just line it up and smash. Mostert can always get there with his TDs, but we’ll see if it can happen this time around.

RB: De’Von Achane (MIA)

James Cook had the most success against Dallas last week, and Achane is the Dolphin with the most skill overlap there. But the way he’s been used the last couple of weeks is very different than how he was used earlier this season. He’s been much more of an ancillary receiver and he’s been out-touched 30-19 by Raheem Mostert over the last 2 games. However, he’s earned 12 targets to Mostert’s 3.

The other thing to note is that Achane sat out of practice until Thursday this week. He should be fine, but it’s worth checking at any rate.

WR: CeeDee Lamb (DAL)

The Dolphins haven’t had to face a lot of explosiveness since Jalen Ramsey returned from injury. Lamb and his teammates present a solid test.

Last week, Ramsey shadowed Garrett Wilson and prevented him from registering a catch against him on the outside. So, will Ramsey follow Lamb around as well? It’s a fun wrinkle to watch in this game.

As for CeeDee himself, he leads all NFL WRs in targets and catcher per game, and only Tyreek Hill has more yards per game. He’s the guy who makes the passing game go for Dallas and the first WR you have to think about in a Cowboys stack.

TE: Jake Ferguson (DAL)

Ferguson has become a nice piece of the Dallas attack this season, and would normally make a great piece of a stack in this game. The problem is that his price has ballooned along with his emergence. He’s $4,900 this week, which is just $400 less than David Njoku, who has been on FIRE.

WR: Brandin Cooks (DAL)

You’re getting no floor to speak of with Cooks. He’s eclipsed 50 receiving yards in just 2 games this season, so if you throw the dart here, you’re really hoping for a TD. Otherwise it’s a busted pick.

You really need to be careful with this one.

Happy Holidays to everyone! Hope you win big today.
