Plus some buy-low trades for Week 7

WE ARE BACK.

It's The Touchdown Press Newsletter. Your #1 source for all things fantasy football, DFS, and sports betting, along with 10,000+ fellow degenerates.

I had a coach that once said you play the way you practice. So get those research reps in on Tuesday and your fantasy game will show it on Sunday.

But before I forgetā€¦ I started a second newsletter focused on prop betting.

Last night we were inches from going 5/6. Click here or tap below to sign up.

If you see this before I wake up tomorrow Iā€™m giving away $250 here to one lucky new subscriber.

Today in 5 minutes or less, youā€™ll learn:

  • Waiver Wire players to boost your hopes āœ…

  • Who ruled Sundayā€™s fantasy landscape? šŸ‘‘

  • Who were managers disappointed with? šŸ˜

  • The latest from around the NFL šŸˆ

STUD QB: Jared Goff (DET)

Sunday didnā€™t feature any QBs who surpassed 23 fantasy points, but Goff was one of three guys who got to 22.

Goff was steady in this one, throwing for 353 yards and 2 TDs on a day when David Montgomery got injured and the Lionsā€™ leading rusher was Craig Reynolds, with 15 yards.

Safe to say the Lions have a stranglehold on the NFC North.

DUD QB: Kirk Cousins (MIN)

Vikings-Bears was somewhat of a mess. Captain Kirk really didnā€™t do his fantasy owners justice with a pedestrian performance of just 181 yards passing and a TD. The Vikes were able to eke out the 6-point win on a day when Justin Fields injured his hand.

We expected more from this matchup this weekend, and unfortunately we didnā€™t get it.

STUD RB: Raheem Mostert (MIA)

Mostert was the man in Miami with Deā€™Von Achane sidelined with a knee injury. The game and Mostertā€™s usage went pretty much as expected, as he went for his season-high 6.8 yards per carry and scored twice. He also hauled in all 3 of his targets in the passing game.

Mostert is now 2nd in fantasy points among RBs, despite playing just about 32 snaps per game, according to Fantasy Life. As long as Achane is sidelined, this guy will be popping for Miami.

DUD RB: Dameon Pierce (HOU)

Despite out-carrying Devin Singletary, 13-12, Pierce couldnā€™t manage a lot of running room against a surprisingly stout Saintsā€™ front, and finished with just 34 total yards.

Pierce is just RB36 in PPR formats so far, and hasnā€™t lived up to the hype he had going this summer in the fantasy community.

STUD WR: Adam Thielen (CAR)

After 6 weeks, our top-3 PPR WRs are Tyreek Hill, Stefon Diggs, and Thielen. I donā€™t think many of us saw that coming.

But Adam has been a steady hand for a struggling Panthers team. Heā€™s now surpassed 27 PPR points in 3 of the last 4 games, and has no fewer than 7 receptions since Week 2 (11 on Sunday, for 115 and a score).

If Thielen keeps up this pace, or something close to it, we may end up calling him a league winner.

DUD WR: Calvin Ridley (JAX)

The signs were there. They just pointed in the wrong direction.

Ridley managed just 4 receptions for 30 yards (and negative 4 rushing), in a matchup against the Titans, whose pass funnel defense should have led to a much more impressive day.

Ridley has shown flashes of the fantasy star he once was in Atlanta, but his inconsistency has to have managers frustrated.

STUD TE: Travis Kelce (KC)

Sometimes the chalk hits, and Kelceā€™s performance from Thursday night held up through Sundayā€™s slate, as he was the best TE on the field.

Even though he didnā€™t find the end zone, he caught all 9 of his targets for 125 yards, which will be enough to give your team an advantage at TEs most weeks.

DUD TE: Logan Thomas (WAS)

The pendulum swings quickly in the NFL. Thomas was a Week 6 waiver wire darling and rewarded that belief with 1 lousy catch for 2 lousy yards in the win against the Falcons.

Itā€™s continually looking like another year where TE will befuddle fantasy managers, save for those who drafted a top-end guy.

#5: WR Kendrick Bourne (NE)

If there was one offensive bright spot in the Patriotsā€™ disappointing loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, it was Bourne (and maybe Ezekiel Elliott too). He caught 10-of-11 targets for 89 yards and provided some of the only spark New England would get. He remains the favorite target of Mac Jones.

The issue is the ineptitude of his offense, but heā€™ll have more games like Sunday, especially with the Patsā€™ often trailing.

#4: QB Baker Mayfield (TB)

The byes are ramping up, and while there arenā€™t too many top QBs sitting out Week 7, youā€™ll be out of luck if Dak Prescott, Joe Burrow, or C.J. Stroud is your starting option.

Baker had a QB7 finish back in Week 4, and his matchup this week isnā€™t too bad. He faces a Falcons defense that just allowed Sam Howell 3 passing TDs, a 119 QB rating, and a share of the QB5 finish for Week 6 (excluding Monday Night Football).

Bakerā€™s still operating with elite weapons, and could be a nice fill-in for this weekā€™s slate.

#3: RB Jordan Mason (SF)

When Christian McCaffrey left the game with injuries, it was Mason who stepped in to pick up the slack. He performed on his 5 carries, taking them for 27 yards and his first career TD.

Just be sure to keep an eye on how the 49ers use Elijah Mitchell, who was active for Week 6, but only got 2 carries. It could be that theyā€™re easing him back into the lineup and may play more if CMC misses an extended amount of time.

#2: WR Rashid Shaheed (NO)

Shaheed finished Week 6 with over 80 yards and a TD, once again filling the role of deep threat for New Orleans. Heā€™s in line to face a lot of exposable zone over the next few weeks and could provide a nice boost for a team with a WR need.

Fantasy Lifeā€™s air yards tool shows us that Shaheed ranks 6th in the NFL in ADOT, and has the most targets of anyone in that group by far. It will lead to more deep plays over the course of the season, and could pay off.

#5: RB Jonathan Taylor (IND)

He was my number 1 in this section last week, and Iā€™ll continue to pound the table. Taylor is working his way back into shape, and the Colts are planning to use this man. They paid him, so they will use him.

To his credit, Zack Moss has been productive for the Colts and doesnā€™t deserve to have his role reduced, but Taylor is 2 seasons removed from a rushing title and the overall RB1. Iā€™m also encouraged by the 5 catches he had on 6 targets. Those are healthy numbers for an RB.

#4: RB Chuba Hubbard (CAR)

Hubbard played admirably in Week 6 vs. the Dolphins. He got 19 carries for 88 yards and a TD, showing that heā€™s got a lot more skill than a lot of other backup RBs.

Itā€™s also becoming apparent that Miles Sanders, who was inactive for this contest, may not be the answer Carolina envisioned when they brought him in. It seems as though the scales are tipping in Hubbardā€™s favor, and you can pull the trigger.

#3: WR Marquise Brown (ARI)

Hollywood has gone largely overlooked as the fantasy community was on the hunt for shiny new, non-Cardinal toys since the late summer. Brown, however, has 4 WR2 (top-24) finishes in the first 6 weeks of the season, and itā€™s likely that whoever owns him in your league drafted him later on, and may have bigger names in his starting lineup most weeks.

As such, now is the time to grab him as he just had his 2nd-lowest output of the season vs. the Rams this weekend. He still earned 11 targets, and has at least 10 in 4 games so far.

#2: WR Tee Higgins (CIN)

As the Bengals offense continues to figure things out, Higgins looks like a lost soul. Since his big 8-catch, 28.9-point explosion back in Week 2, a combination of health and poor offensive play have sunk his fantasy value.

I still believe in him.

Last season, Higgins finished as PPR WR18 overall and WR16 in fantasy PPG (14.9). I just donā€™t believe that this low level of output will continue. This week, you can probably get him for cheaper since the Bengals are going on their bye, so an impatient manager might let him go for less.
