Clarity in Cowboys’ Backfield?
The NFL opener was last night, and the Eagles beat the Cowboys… but we got some clarity about the Dallas backfield. Javonte Williams scored two touchdowns. He handled 15 carries and punched in a pair of one-yard TDs to start both of Dallas’ first two drives. Not explosive, but he was the clear bell cow, especially with Miles Sanders fumbling near the goal line. If that usage sticks, he’s a solid FLEX play heading into Week 2, but keep an eye on Jaydon Blue, who might finally suit up against the Giants. That debut could shake things up.
Jefferson Off Injury Report
Justin Jefferson is off the injury report ahead of Monday night’s game against the Bears. The Vikings clearly played it smart with his hamstring, and he’s ready for full WR1 duties under the lights. The only thing to monitor now is whether Bears CB Jaylon Johnson suits up. If he’s out, Jefferson might feast on Tyrique Stevenson all game long.
Christian Kirk to Miss Time
Christian Kirk is expected to miss Week 1, and possibly more, with a hamstring strain. Reports suggest it’s a two-week timeline, which opens the door for Jaylin Noel to take over slot duties, and Jayden Higgins to see more looks overall. If you’re digging for a Week 1 sleeper, Noel just became a name to watch… especially in deeper PPR leagues.
Hollywood Brown CLEARED
Chiefs wideout Hollywood Brown is off the injury report and ready for Week 1 against the Chargers. He’ll slot in as the team’s third option behind Travis Kelce and Xavier Worthy. He’s more of a risky FLEX play — huge ceiling if he connects deep, but his target volume might be inconsistent.
Amari Cooper Retires
Amari Cooper just announced he’s hanging it up after 10 NFL seasons. He leaves the league with over 10,000 yards and 64 touchdowns, remembered for his prime with the Raiders and Cowboys. You won’t have to worry about drafting or stashing him anymore, and it opens up extra opportunity for the Raiders’ younger receivers moving forward.
So keep your eye on the news as we head into the weekend… as promised, in 2 minutes or less.
