Seattle Seahawks (-3) @ Arizona Cardinals

It might seem a bit surprising to include a team that’s already eliminated from the playoffs in this one, but the Arizona coaches have their team playing hard. They stormed back from a 21-6 hole in Philadelphia to win the game. Their offense is arguably playing as well as it has all season. These guys want to battle it out.

The Seahawks are fighting for their playoff lives at the moment. They need the win and a Green Bay loss to get in, so you know Pete Carroll will have his foot on the gas. The game is indoors too, so I’m looking for a high total here.

Fantasy Life’s game hub shows a couple of spots we might be able to take advantage of, specifically in the Seahawks’ passing game and the Cardinals’ running game.

As always, here are some of the main players we want to look for in building a solid DFS stack out of this game.

QB: Geno Smith (SEA)

Arizona is one of the teams I’ve targeted all year in the passing game. They’re 28th in pressure rate, and that’s huge for Geno. With a clean pocket, he has a 73% completion rate with 8.3 yards per attempt. When pressured, those numbers drop to 51.2% and 5.3.

All of that played out in the Week 7 matchup. Geno completed 75% of his passes with 9.1 yards per attempt while throwing the ball just 9 times in the 2nd half. I expect this version of Arizona to keep the pace better than that one did (more on that later).

WR: DK Metcalf (SEA)

Metcalf is the first name you need in a Geno stack. In his last 6 games with his QB, he has at least 94 yards in 4 of them. And over the last 8 games he’s 4th in the NFL in receiving yards and has 6 TDs. Basically, he’s the only Seahawks WR that’s showing actual, helpful upside. It’s not that you can’t use Tyler Lockett or Jaxon Smith-Njigba, but those two sort of cannibalize each other, leaving Metcalf as the WR1.

RB: Kenneth Walker (SEA)

Walker left last week’s game with a shoulder injury, but he’s on track to play. Considering this is our last chance to attack the Arizona rushing defense, he should play for our DraftKings team as well.

The Cardinals against RBs:

  • 31st in rushing points allowed

  • 28th in receiving points allowed

  • 31st in total TDs allowed (22)

In Week 7, Walker had 111 yards on 28 touches. Even though Zach Charbonnet did not play in that game, Arizona gives up enough big plays that you can’t ignore Walker.

RB: James Conner (ARI)

When James Conner, Kyler Murray, and Trey McBride all play together, the team’s yards per play goes from 4.2 yards per play to 5.6. That’s like going from 31st in the league all the way up to 8th.

Conner himself is on an absolute heater. He’s got 4 consecutive RB1 scoring weeks with 100+ scrimmage yards in 3 of those games. Not to mention he’s been one of the most efficient RBs in the league this season. Of the 44 RBs with 100 or more carries, Conner is:

  • 6th in success rate

  • 5th in yards per carry

  • 6th in explosive run rate

  • 1st in yards after contact per carry

  • 8th in rate of runs for a 1st down or TD

Seattle has been poor against RBs over the last 6 games, ranking 31st in both yards per carry allowed and in rate of runs to go for a 1st down or TD. I expect Conner to end the year strong.

TE: Trey McBride (ARI)

Sunday’s slate is not good for TEs. We probably aren’t getting full games from George Kittle, David Njoku, or Travis Kelce. But McBride’s usage is still there for us. Despite having a few unexciting games recently, the fact is that he’s had a PPR TE1 score in 7 of the last 8 games. In the last 2, he still has 22% and 21.6% of the team’s targets.

If you are looking to make a Kyler Murray Cardinals stack, McBride is in play for certain.

QB: Kyler Murray (ARI)

It’s been a bumpy ride for Murray as he’s worked his way back to the field this season, but he has hit 20+ fantasy points in 4 of his 7 starts, which is more than sufficient for our purposes.

Seattle’s defense has faltered over the past month. They allowed Mason Rudolph to complete 75% of his passes with 11.4 yards per attempt.

Don’t worry, we’ll still be here for the playoffs starting next week. There’s plenty left for the final stretch of the season.

The Touchdown Press is a must-read for every NFL fan — pure signal, highly actionable, and one-liners funny enough to make you pee a little bit.

If this one didn’t hit the spot, reply to this email... I would love to hear from you on how you think we can do better next time.
