QB: Lamar Jackson (BAL) - $7,900
In a four-game slate, youāre looking at either paying up or paying down, and I love Jackson this week as the expensive option a little bit more than Josh Allen. One reason is that I think the Texansā defense is more beatable than the Chiefs at the moment. The other is Lamarās huge rushing upside. I think he has the ability to go off on the ground this weekend, and even his props are listed at over 50 yards.
The Ravens have a good chance of taking control of this game, and the quarterback will be a huge reason why.
QB: Jared Goff (DET) - $6,300
Most players are going to flock to Brock Purdy as the pay down option this week, making him the chalkiest QB on the slate, but Iām going in the other direction. I like Jared Goff at home in a dome. The Buccaneers have been vulnerable in the passing game, and the salary allows you to fit Amon-Ra St. Brown or the other Lionsā receivers in too.
Both of my QB picks have played well this season, and both have pretty favorable matchups, according to Fantasy Lifeās Defense vs. Position tool. The Texans ranked 23rd and the Bucs ranked 24th against QBs this year.
RB: Christian McCaffrey (SF) - $8,800
There isnāt much to write about CMC that hasnāt already been said in this space, as well as countless others, and on the field. Heās going to be a terrific play at home against a Packersā defense that was in the bottom half of the league vs. RBs in fantasy this season.
RB: Isiah Pacheco (KC) - $6,400
With the solid run defenses in the Lions-Bucs game, and the uncertain backfield situation in Baltimore, Iām looking at Chiefs-Bills for my RBs.
Pacheco has been hitting around 15-25 fantasy points when healthy, and the Chiefs have given him the keys to the backfield. Heās 100% ready to go in this one, and probably the best-bet to score you some points outside of Christian McCaffrey.
RB: James Cook (BUF) - $6,300
Iām not usually a Cook guy, but the Bills have given him plenty of work. That should continue against the Chiefs. He probably projects for at least 15 touches in this game, and possibly more. So if this one becomes an offensive shootout type of game, I think he can ride the Billsā offense to some solid production.
WR: Amon-Ra St. Brown (DET) - $8,200
The Sun God is a terrific stack option if youāre going with Jared Goff at QB, and Goffās salary makes him easy to fit into your lineup. Amon-Ra tied Tyreek Hill for 2nd in the league in receptions this season, and he made some great plays down the stretch last week to seal the win against the Rams.
Heās easy to slot in without much thought.
WR: Mike Evans (TB) - $7,200
One thing we know about Mike Evans after a decade is that when he has a frustrating game (just 3 catches for 48 yards on 7 targets vs. the Eagles), he comes back and scores just about every time. Lock in in: Evans is in line for a big game against Detroitās flimsy pass defense.
WR: Brandon Aiyuk (SF) - $6,900
Aiyuk and teammate Deebo Samuel are in the same tier this week, with both having the potential to hit their ceilings. Even though Deeboās been the guy to have bigger games down the stretch this season, Aiyuk has made the bigger plays. Heās also cheaper, so he gets the nod if Iām forced to choose.
Despite the widespread perception that Aiyuk is still his teamās no. 2 WR, he ranked 9th in the league in air yard percentage, getting a very strong 40.2% of his teamās share, according to the air yards tool from Fantasy Life.
TE: Sam LaPorta (DET) - $5,900
There was concern last week around LaPorta because he wasnāt 100% healthy, but he proved to be a difference maker in the game regardless, scoring a TD among his 3 catches. Heās better this week and ready to go.
The one concern is that the Bucs have been pretty decent defending TEs, but on the whole I still think heās the 2nd option on the Lions.
TE: Dalton Schultz (HOU) - $4,400
If thereās a weakness on the Baltimore defense, itās that slot WRs and TEs have done pretty well against them. Schultz is often the safety valve and 2nd read for C.J. Stroud. If the Texans can keep this game relatively close, Iām hoping for a big play or a TD from Schultz.
DST: Buffalo Bills - $2,800
The Chiefs havenāt quite been the offense that they were last season, and Buffalo provides a decent price point for lineup building. You could also make the case to flip it and pick the Kansas City defense with the understanding that Josh Allen could always turn the ball over, even if the Bills score a lot of points.
