There was som excellent football played this weekend. The good definitively overshadowed the bad, so much that Iā€™m only highlighting the positive performances from both the winning and losing sides.

QB: Lamar Jackson (BAL)

The most likely NFL MVP once again showed the nation why he deserves the honor if he does indeed go on to win. Lamar was the most electric quarterback on the field this weekend. He was directly responsible for all 4 of the Baltimore TDs, was efficient in the passing game, and was this gameā€™s leading rusher by a long shot.

Thanks to the heroics, the Ravens get to host Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs for the AFC Championship game this Sunday. Itā€™s going to be a GREAT one for football fans.

DST: Baltimore Ravens

With respect to the offense being built in Houston around C.J. Stroud, they just were not ready to handle as elite a unit as the Baltimore group. Stroud did his best in taking care of the football, but was only able to squeeze out 175 passing yards. The Texansā€™ leading rusher on the day, Devin Singletary, only got to 22 yards, and Houstonā€™s lone TD came on a punt return.

The numbers from Fantasy Life donā€™t lie, and their defense vs. position tool suggests the Ravens have the most well-rounded defense in the running. Theyā€™re in the top-12 vs. all positions aside from kicker.

RB: Christian McCaffrey (SF)

If the NFL MVP award wasnā€™t so wholly dominated by QBs, CMC would have the best case. He did exactly what weā€™ve come to expect from him, with 98 ground yards and 2 TDs, as well as a team-leading 7 catches to help keep the offense rolling.

The 49ersā€™ attack is littered with talented stars, but CMC feels like the catalyst that makes the whole thing go.

RB: Aaron Jones (GB)

Jonesā€™s absolute HEATER continued right up until the final whistle on Saturday night.

Alongside Jordan Love, the running back was probably the biggest reason the Packers were able to keep the game within reach for most of the evening. He had his best stuff on the ground against a tough defense, going for 108 yards on 18 carries.

I know he was a tough draft pick in season-long fantasy, but the end of the year should renew confidence in him going into the 2024 season.

RB: Jahmyr Gibbs (DET)

Gibbs was terrific during Sundayā€™s game, which felt like a national announcement that heā€™s officially arrived. He made David Montgomery feel like an afterthought with an explosive 8.2 yards per carry on the ground, adding a TD as well as 40 extra yards in the passing game. The future looks bright for the rookie just as the Lionsā€™ culture has shifted to winning.

WR: Mike Evans (TB)

I keep saying it. If Evans drops a big pass or has a down week, itā€™s a LOCK that heā€™ll bounce back and perform in the next one, and boy did he. Evans made big play after big play in the Motor City, doing his part to keep his team in it. Ultimately he would finish with 8 receptions on 12 targets for 147 yards and a touchdown.

Baker Mayfield gets props here too, although he did throw 2 INTs. I think the Bucs would be smart to sign Baker and pair him with Evans for a few more seasons. Theyā€™re a fun pairing to watch.

RB: Isiah Pacheco (KC)

Pacheco runs like someone just stole his lunch money on every play. His fire wore down the Buffalo front throughout Sunday evening, culminating with his final clock icing in the last minute. For as much as the Chiefs have looked like they took a (small) step back this season, there are guys like Pacheco telling us not to bury them yet.

I imagine Pacheco vs. the Baltimore front will be a key matchup in the championship game.

QB: Patrick Mahomes (KC)

The leader of the Chiefs was on his game, passing for an efficient 215 yards and 2 TDs, and leading his team back to yet another AFC Championship matchup. Mahomes excels in so many facets of football, but perhaps his best attribute is his ability to avoid pass rushers and keep his team alive. That skill was on full display against Buffalo. The guy just does what it takes to win.

QB: Josh Allen (BUF)

It was disappointing to see the final Billsā€™ field goal attempt curve to the right, because Allen had been superb all game, and it would have been fun to see the night continue.

His passing numbers werenā€™t eye-popping, but his 72 rushing yards and 2 ground TDs came on plays that kept Buffaloā€™s offense looking sharp. They were in a position to win because of Allenā€™s athleticism. Yes, he fell short at the end, but this was another game where he showed he belongs in the conversation as one of todayā€™s best QBs.

He was QB1 in fantasy football this year, so Bills fans can take solace in the fact that theyā€™ll most certainly be back. Check out the rest of Allenā€™s terrific statistics from Fantasy Life:
